Standards and trust

Numbers you can trace back.

AEMS does not invent safety values. Every distance comes from rule data copied from the standard, each entry checked by hand, and every result says where it came from.

DEMO · NOT FOR OPERATIONAL USE

From the standard, and nowhere else.

Every AASTP-1 factor, validity range, sector angle and formula AEMS uses is held in one rule-data file, copied from the standard with its table and page reference. 777 rule-data entries, each with a recorded manual check against the standard. An entry without that check is refused, and no distance, band or factor is written anywhere else in the program - not even as a default.

Where the standard is unclear or seems to contradict itself, the whole standard is read and the evidence is set out before anything is decided.

  • AASTP-1 Ed DQuantity distances for above-ground storage: every required distance, hazard divisions 1.1 to 1.6, mixing, aggregation and compatibility (Table 5).
  • AASTP-1.1The layout of the QD calculation sheet AEMS prints, and the people-protection criteria for barricades (3.2.6.2).
  • IATGInspection periods and checklists, and the layout of the licence proposal.

Every result says where it came from.

Every distance is labelled with the standard it comes from. The full reference - the entries the result was read from - is one click away and always in the page's accessible text.

Open any pair to see why: the pair drawn to scale, each effect with its own distance, the one that governs, and the table column it was read from. Status is always shown with an icon and words, never colour alone.

The QD sheets AEMS prints carry the program version, the code revision and a fingerprint of the rule data, so a printed result can be traced to the exact build that made it.

Checked case by case.

  • 2,460automated tests, all passing on this revision
  • 777rule-data entries, each with a recorded manual check against the standard
  • 12synthetic test depots with hand-checked expected results
  • 10internally accepted demo iterations
  • 16chapters in the user guide

Counted on AEMS 0.11.0 (b7a732a), 27 Oct 2026.

Hand-checked reference cases for the geometry and for whole test depots stay as tests: their expected values are never changed to make a test pass.

Synthetic data on this website.

Every depot, item and number on this website is synthetic. Depot Golf was made for it and checked in the real app; its screens are captured from the build named under each picture.

AEMS is demo software. It is not released, not certified and not for operational use; every output is a draft for a qualified officer to check.
